Self-Care: All the Small Things

Life can be unpredictable and chaotic, especially these days. It is important to take time for yourself. Like most things in life, self-care is on a spectrum. It looks different for each of us. Whatever you need is what it is.

In today’s world, we have the option to do as much or little as we want. It may be helpful for your emotional and mental health to take away or add something small in your life. Perhaps it’s deleting the Facebook app from your phone because your feed stresses you out. Maybe it’s deciding to get up every day 15 minutes earlier so you can have some time to yourself and enjoy your coffee or sit in stillness.

Something I recently started to do is make my bed every morning as soon as I wake up. It’s only taken me almost 30 years to make this part of my morning routine. It’s the first task accomplished of each day and starts my day off in such a satisfying way. Also, it helps to come home at the end of the day and see a nice, fresh bed.

My challenge to you if it feels right is to decide on something small to take away or add to your daily routine. Do it for a week and see how it feels… maybe it’ll be that thing that makes you 10% happier.

And in case you forgot, here’s this song!
